God Created Children (and in the process, grandchildren)

I've had this newspaper clipping on my fridge for a while now.  Mike, the hubs, had actually clipped it out of a paper some time ago. Being as my life is a whirlwind, I can't recall exactly when it was, but it had to of been in the last 3 years. That should narrow it down a bit. Not a true biblical account I'm sure, but an updated version, no doubt!

Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was 'DON'T!'

'Don't what?'  Adam replied.

'Don't eat the forbidden fruit.'  God said.

'Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve.. we have forbidden fruit!'

'No way!'

"Yes way!'

'Do NOT eat the fruit!'  Said God.

'Why?'

'Because I am your Father and I said so!'  God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants.

A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked!

'Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit?'  God asked.

'Uh huh,'  Adam replied.

'Then why did you?'  Said the Father.

'I don't know,'  Said Eve.

'She started it!'  Adam said.

'Did not!'

'Did too!'

'DID NOT!'

Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own.

Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself.

If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?

So I guess the hubs was trying to tell me something when he clipped this out of the paper.  So I kept it on my fridge as a reminder of how hard life can be trying to raise good kids and that, yes, it's not going to be easy at any point!  I still read it from time to time and it does remind me that it is very hard to try and raise good kids! So where has the world America gone so wrong in this area?!?  Is it that kids are raising kids?  It seems the grand parents are raising their grandchildren in some situations.

So when did the values go MIA??  What happened to Family values? Compassion? Empathy? And flat out Caring?  What is it that makes Americans want to live beyond their means? Why is Credit Card debt at an all time high still?  Why does our country have a deficit that is in the trillions? Why have government officials gone so corrupt ? What is it about the almighty dollar that makes everyone go so wrong?

What would happen if our country went through another Depression? Who would survive and who wouldn't? Do you think the younger generation could survive? Have their parents shown them how to conserve?

I know there aren't any answers or quick fixes for all these questions problems. And let's face it, the future of our country doesn't look so good. BUT, I can make a difference. My children can make a difference.  When I look at my kiddos, I want the best for them, but not the tangible things. They need guidance, love, and understanding.   Like I said in my last post, I will teach them right from wrong, good from bad, and  hope for the best. I can't hold their hand the rest of their life. At some point they have to make decisions on their own. I pray it's the right ones. At least I know I've done my part, but this world can be so brutal.  All I can do is have faith, love them, and be present in their lives -  always!

I've gotten down off my soapbox now.....thanks for taking the time to read! :)
